Central Regional Commissioner vows tough crackdown on deadly alcohol in Kirinyaga

The Central Regional Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has assured Kirinyaga residents that exhibits related to suspects arrested after the Kangai incident are still intact at Kiamaciri Police Station.

Speaking at the station with the county security team, Nkanatha vowed to intensify the war against deadly alcohol.

In February 2024, 17 people died, later buried on 17 th February 2024, and several lost their eyesight.

"We took action, arrested suspects, and the exhibits are still here, anyone involved in such business should feel unsafe; we're coming for them, no matter who they are," Nkanatha said.

Nkanatha warned those threatening the government with court orders to stop selling illicit brew: "Court orders protect lawful activities, not businesses that cost lives."

Following the Kangai incident, four police officers were arrested and interdicted.
