Following the swearing-in of new Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) director Amin Mohamed Ibrahim, the National Police Service (NPS) has announced a raft of changes within its ranks.

In the new changes effected by Acting Inspector General of Police  Noor Gabow, former Nairobi Regional DCI chief Nicholas Ireri Kamwende has been named the Deputy Director of DCI. Prior to the appointment changes, Ireri served as the Director of Planning at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.

Senior Assistant Inspector General (S/AIG) John Gachomo will likewise take over from DCI boss Ibrahim as the new director of the Internal Affairs Unit.

AIG Eliud Kipchoge Lagat has been named the new Director Investigations Bureau (IB) while Commissioner of Police (CP) Johnstone Kola will lead the DCI's Anti-Terrorist Police Unit (ATPU) as director.

Kola's counterpart, CP Otieno Omumbo has been deployed to the DCI's headquarters while Director of the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) Paul Mumo will now be stationed at NPS' Vigilance House headquarters in Nairobi.

According to the police service, the changes which take effect immediately "are in line with ongoing police reforms and are aimed at streamlining services; enhancing effectiveness."
