Chege Njuguna declared UDA candidate for Kandara by-election

Chege Njuguna has been declared the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party flagbearer in the Kandara Parliamentary race.


Njuguna was declared winner in UDA primaries conducted at the constituency on Saturday after getting 7,826 votes.


Mbuchu Titus Njau emerged second with 5335 votes, Mwaura Stephen Mburu third with 4414 votes, while Kamau James Maina emerged fourth with 2191 votes. 

The nominee will be facing candidates from other political parties during a by-election on January 5, 2023.


The Parliamentary seat fell vacant after Alice Wahome was appointed Water and Sanitation Cabinet Secretary by President William Ruto.


On January 5, by-elections will also be held in Garissa Township constituency and Elgeyo Marakwet County where the MP and Senator seats fell vacant after Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen were appointed to the cabinet.
