The launch in Nairobi under the China–Kenya Readers Forum, comes days before the two countries mark 62 years of diplomatic relations.
Mo Gaoyi, Minister of the State Council Information Office of China, said the milestone underscores a long-standing partnership grounded in mutual support. He added that the elevation of bilateral ties to a “community with a shared future for the new era” signals closer engagement across modernization, digital transformation, and cultural exchange.
Mo noted that Volume V offers fresh insight into China’s recent governance priorities, including economic reform, green development, civilizational exchange, and global cooperation. The book compiles 91 speeches and articles by President Xi Jinping from 2022 to 2024, organized around themes such as high-quality development, sustainability, and China’s evolving partnerships with Africa.
Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo said the publication serves as an important platform for sharing China’s governance experience and development philosophy.
She highlighted China and Kenya’s growing collaboration in areas such as people-centered development, economic modernization, and infrastructure, emphasizing the benefits of long-term cooperation.
She also linked the book’s ideas to China’s broader global initiatives on development, security, civilization, and governance.
Representatives from Kenya used the forum to reflect on lessons drawn from China’s development model.
Beatrice Elachi, Secretary-General of the Kenya–China Friendship Association, said elements of Kenya’s 2025–2040 poverty reduction roadmap are inspired by China’s experience, including targeted poverty mapping, rural infrastructure upgrades, county-level industrial development, urbanization initiatives, and expanded TVET training.
ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo highlighted the shift in China–Kenya cooperation toward digital innovation, cultural exchange, and knowledge partnerships. He announced plans for a “Kenya Village” in major Chinese cities to promote Kenyan food, crafts, tourism, and creative industries.
Additional areas of collaboration include joint publishing, media exchanges, youth fellowships, and cultural tourism.
The forum underscored expanding engagement between China and Kenya across infrastructure, trade, green energy, industrialization, and people-to-people exchanges. Organizers said Volume V is intended not only to familiarize Kenyan readers with China’s governance approach but also to support long-term cooperation in development and modernization.
