Citizen TV is
slated to unveil the newest member of the hugely-popular Thursday evening news
show; 'News Gang'.
The program, which
has been on air for the last six years, kicked off to wide critical acclaim and
featured a star-studded team that comprise(d) some of the biggest names at
Royal Media Services.
Unveiled in 2018,
the program brought together then-Strategy and Innovation Director Linus
Kaikai, then-Editorial Director Joe Ageyo, Managing Editor (Swahili) Jamila
Mohamed, then-Political Affairs Editor Francis Gachuri as well as senior news
anchor and current Business News Editor Yvonne Okwara.
Now, a lot has
happened and two founding members have since left, the latest of whom is former
Political Affairs Editor Francis Gachuri, who just recently moved to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration as Head of Communications.
In a 20-second
promo clip that the station has since released, the three remaining members are
shown as the arrival of a new member whose face and name is yet to be revealed
is also announced
"The gang returns
this Thursday April the 6th 2023. Watch out, a new gangster is on the
loose," the clip announces.
"The gang
returns at 9PM on News Gang, only on Citizen TV!"
Announcing the
show back then, the station stated that News Gang would "put all the
stories into perspective with informed and balanced accounts."
Each of the panel
members have their own take on the hottest stories of the day with specialized
titles carrying each member’s individualized final takes.
Linus operates
under 'Kaikai's Kicker,' while Yvonne and Jamila go with' Yvonne's Take' and
'Jamila's Memo' respectively; so what will be the new ‘gangster’s’ final take
header? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
