Clergy condemns harassment of Kenyans during Tanzania's elections period

Clergy under the umbrella Pentecostal Voice of Kenya have condemned the killings and brutality meted out on Kenyans during Tanzania's election period.

The clergy have also condemned the silence of the Kenyan government in protecting its citizens in Tanzania, adding that Kenyans have a right to live in a foreign country and deserve necessary protection.

The religious leaders have demanded that the government disclose the exact number of Kenyans killed in Tanzania, saying families are suffering as no official information has been communicated.

They have criticised Tanzania's government for blaming the election unrest in the country on foreigners, further calling on foreign governments, especially within East Africa, to protect Kenyans living in their countries.

They also demanded an explanation from the Kenyan government regarding the silence surrounding the disappearance of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who resurfaced after being missing for over a month.

“Sisi kama Wakenya tungetaka kujua walikuwa wapi, kwa maana wengine watapotea pia na tukose kujua,” they said.

The clergy vowed not to remain silent until the Kenyan government takes full accountability.
