Cop Shakur arrested, accused of possessing toy gun

Jackson Kuria Kimani, alias Cop Shakur, a prison officer who hit headlines during the anti-finance protests for his criticism against the government, has been arrested.

Kuria was arrested on Saturday by police officers based in Naivasha and detained at Naivasha Law Courts.

Police say the accused was found in possession of a toy gun upon his arrest.

The court ruled that Kuria be detained for 24 hours as police conduct a ballistic analysis of the weapon to ascertain if it is a firearm.

The matter is expected back in court on Thursday.
