CORD replaces Mong’are with Zani in PAC

Cord has replaced Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mongare from the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee (PAC) with nominated senator Agnes Zani for allegedly associating with Jubilee party members.

Senate Minority Chief Whip Johnstone Muthama wrote a letter addressed to Senate speaker Ekwe Ethuro informing him that the coalition had replaced Mongare from the watchdog committee with nominated Senator Dr. Agnes Zani, hours after Mong’are was elected.

“This is to notify you that the CORD coalition has discharged Senator Mong’are Kennedy Okong’o from the Sessional Committee on County Public Accounts Committee with immediate effect and replaced him with Zani,” said Muthama in the letter.

Earlier, Khalwale had welcomed his replacement but blamed political rivalry between the ruling jubilee coalition and the opposition CORD coalition for the new changes.

In the changes made on Thursday morning, Senate PAC members also elected West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo as the Vice Chair of the committee replacing Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar.

The Senate Speaker is tomorrow (Friday) expected to communicate on Mong’are’s removal from the committee by CORD.
