Coronavirus: Two Italian nationals denied entry into Kenya, flown to Ethiopia

Two Italian nationals were on Tuesday evening turned away at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa after reportedly exhibiting signs of the coronavirus.

The two – Marbeillo Fransisco and Marbiello Maurice – were among 44 passengers who landed at the airport using an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa.

The duo, who had travelled on a tourist Visa, were however not even allowed to disembark from the plane.

According to Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo, they were denied entry into the country after showing signs of possible Covid-19 infection and were instead flown back to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where they had come from.

The Commissioner further added that the other 42 passengers aboard the flight were allowed passage into the country and were advised to self quarantine for 14 days.
