COTU Chairman Rajab Mwondi dies in hospital

Long-serving Central Organization of Trade Unions - Kenya (COTU-K) Chairperson Rajabu Wellington Mwondi is dead.

COTU Secretary General Dr. Francis Atwoli announced the news on Wednesday evening, saying Mwondi succumbed to an illness while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

Mwondi has served as the Organisation’s chair for over 20 years.

He was also the longest-serving General Secretary of the Kenya Union of Printing, Publishing, Packaging and Paper Manufacturers (KUPRIPUPA) Union

Atwoli mourned the late Mwondi as a dedicated leader in his days of service and a great pillar in Kenya’s labour organization.

“The late Mwondi has been COTU-K's Chairman General for over two decades and has served the organization with utmost trust, dedication and commitment,” Atwoli stated.

“He was no doubt the greatest pillar in the country's labour movement where he also double up as the longest serving General Secretary of the KUPRIPUPA Union.”
