Labour and Employment Court Judge Obuodha has issued orders halting Equity Bank and Safaricom from using a combined total of Ksh.164 million in their accounts pending the hearing and determination of an application filed by Directline Company.
The money belongs to Directline
Assurance Company.
The injunction came after all involved parties in the case agreed not to
tamper with the funds held in Equity Bank and a portion of funds held in
Safaricom.
In the ongoing case, Directline, represented by senior counsel Kamau Kuria, is seeking a review of the granted order.
Kuria emphasized the urgency of the matter, alleging that Diamond Trust Bank, CBK, Equity Bank, Safaricom, Family Bank, and I&M Bank have prevented Directline Assurance Company Limited from accessing its funds further adding that the order is killing the business' operations.
Directline further alleged that it discovered that one Terry Winjeje obtained the garnishee order without disclosing crucial facts to the court.
