Court directs NHIF to settle dispute with Mututho's firm

High Court has directed the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to settle a court dispute it has with a firm owned by former Naivasha Member of Parliament John Mututho.

NHIF has at least seven days to settle the matter on whether it will renew the contract of JOMEC limited -a health service company owned by Mututho.

If they don't then the court has directed that a contempt of court application be filed against NHIF and its CEO.

NHIF, through its lawyer, told the court that parties are still going on with talks and asked for one week.

The Judge directed this application to be heard on July 29, 2024 if no agreement is reached between the two.

In the case the board and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NHIF have been sued for contempt of court charges over alleged failure to honour court orders jointly registered between the health insurer and Mututho's JOMEC Limited in February 2024 at the Milimani High Court, Commercial and Tax Division.
