Court to rule on Governor Godhana’s academic papers today
By Zomolo Wanje
The Malindi High Court is expected to rule on a case challenging the validity of Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana academic certificates today.
Justice Asenath Ongeri is expected to give a determination to the case filed by Mohammed Dado Katu, a voter.
Through his lawyers Mr. Katu told the court that the governor forged his academic papers which is a contravention of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC’s) requirements of a person vying for elective office.
During the submissions, Justice Ongeri dismissed the governor’s application to throw out the case challenging his academic credentials.
She instead directed the Commission for University Education (CUE) to confirm the authenticity of Dhadho’s papers within 7 days.
The same court is also expected to rule on an election petition against governor Dhadho filed by the county’s governor Hussein Dado on January 26.
Dado alleged that the gubernatorial election conducted by IEBC was marred with irregularities and illegalities.
