COVID-19: Kenya records 292 new cases, 2 deaths

Kenya has recorded 292 cases of COVID-19, from 3,297 samples
tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the positivity rate to 8.9 percent.
In a statement issued
on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said out of the confirmed cases, 259 are
Kenyans and 33 are foreigners out of which 151 are males while
141 are females.
The youngest patient
is a seven-year-old while the oldest is 95 years old.
In terms of the cases distribution
countrywide, Nairobi led with 157, Siaya 30, Kiambu 22,
Nakuru 17, Kilifi 10, Busia 10, Bungoma 8, Kericho 6, Laikipia 4, Mombasa 4,
Homa Bay 3, Kajiado 3, Machakos 3, Kirinyaga 3, Narok 3, Kisumu 2, Tana River
2, Garissa, Kakamega, Kwale, Nyeri and West Pokot had one each.
According to Health
Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 261 patients have recovered from the disease
which has claimed two lives in the past 24 hours.
Cumulative fatalities
currently stand at 5,659.
"There are 123 patients
currently admitted in our health facilities, while 2,742 are under
the Home-Based Isolation and Care program," said Kagwe on Tuesday.
"4 patients are
in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support.
Another 21 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No
patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU)."
