Aldai Member of Parliament Marianne Kitany has been forcefully evicted from her ex-husband Agriculture Cabinet
Secretary Mithika Linturi’s home in Runda, Nairobi.
Ms. Kitany’s advocate Moses Kurgat, speaking to
Citizen Digital, said a group of individuals sent by the CS allegedly stormed
the home on Wednesday night.
This, Kurgat said, is despite the fact that they on
Wednesday obtained a new court order signed by Magistrate Wendy Micheni barring
Ms. Kitany’s eviction from the property, which the estranged ex-lovers both claim ownership
to.
The advocate claimed that
the new order countermanded an earlier one issued last week by the same magistrate
that approved an application by an auctioneer and CS Linturi
to evict the Aldai MP from the house.
Advocate Kurgat further added that officers who
were overseeing the eviction have since hounded out teams from both Linturi and
Kitany’s side from the home until morning, when they say they can verify the
validity of the new court order.
Magistrate Micheni, in the previous orders issued on on February 7, 2023, gave orders to police to provide security to the auctioneers to evict Kitany from the house.
