Speaking at PCEA Ngecha Church in Limuru, Kiambu County, Ruku emphasized that collaboration between the church and the state remains crucial in improving citizens’ welfare. He noted that faith institutions have long played a vital role in guiding communities and advancing national development.
Ruku assured worshippers that President William Ruto has a comprehensive plan to address long-standing challenges facing Kenyans. He said the administration is committed to delivering lasting solutions that will uplift livelihoods and accelerate progress across the country.
Highlighting ongoing development projects, Ruku urged Kiambu residents to ignore leaders propagating what he termed as empty political rhetoric aimed at pushing the region into opposition politics. Such a move, he warned, would derail progress and deny citizens the benefits of government-led initiatives.
He cited roads, markets, affordable housing projects, and other infrastructure developments currently underway in Kiambu and across Mt Kenya as clear indicators of the government’s commitment. He added that such transformative projects are possible only when communities remain united and aligned with the government.
The CS also underscored the need for political stability, arguing that development thrives when leaders and citizens work cohesively with government structures rather than embracing divisive politics. He noted that the region stands to gain more by maintaining its strong partnership with President Ruto’s administration.
Turning to the effects of drought, Ruku expressed concern over insufficient rainfall experienced in several parts of the country, saying the situation has affected food production and placed vulnerable families at risk.
“The people of Kiambu may not experience the food shortage seen in some parts of the country, but the government is keen on ensuring that no citizen dies of hunger in the affected areas,” he said.
He assured the public that mechanisms have already been put in place to cushion affected households. Food distribution programmes will be rolled out to ensure no Kenyan suffers during the dry spell.
Ruku added that his ministry is working with other government agencies and non-state actors on proactive initiatives to promote sustainable livelihoods while ensuring relief reaches all affected communities swiftly and efficiently. He also promised transparency and fairness in the distribution exercise.
The CS urged Kenyans to remain hopeful and trust the government’s process, noting that with unity and collaboration, the country will overcome its challenges and stay on a path of steady development.
