David Ndii clarifies on his new role in President Ruto's Council of Economic Affairs

Economist David Ndii has come out to clarify what his new role entails after President William Ruto appointed him the chairperson of the the President's Council of Economic Advisors (CEA).

In a tweet on Saturday, Ndii said CEA is an executive agency, similar to what exists in the US.

He said the CEA, alongside the Office of Fiscal Affairs and Budget and the Office of the National Security Advisor are part of the government's goal to fully operationalise the presidential system.

On Friday, President Ruto made 10 new appointments to the Executive Office of the President.

The appointments comprise individuals who will be working closely with the Head of State.

In addition to Ndii, here are the other nine appointments: 

        1. Mr. Felix Koskei - Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service

            2. Mr. Josephat Nanok - Deputy Chief of Staff

            3. Dr. Augustine Cheruiyot - Senior Advisor & Head of Economic Transformation Secretariat

            4. Dr. Kamau Thugge - Senior Advisor and Head of Fiscal Affairs & Budget Policy

            5. Mr. Mohammed Hassan - Member, President's Council of Economic Advisors

            6. Dr. Nancy Laibuni - Associate Member, President's Council of Economic Advisors

            7. Katoo Ole Metito -  State House Comptroller

            8. Mr. Hussein Mohamed, MBS - State House Spokesperson

            9. Mr. David Mugonyi - Head of the Presidential Communication Service
