President William Ruto's advisor David Ndii has addressed detractors who have, for the longest time now, trolled him for being overweight.

The renowned economist, who has never hidden his propensity to counter anyone online, appeared to respond to the general sentiment concerning his weight, reminding his haters that he may have accumulated weight - but it is redeemable.

"To be overweight is a remediable personal challenge of little or no consequence to the general public. To be empty-headed is an incurable societal burden," Ndii said.

Further admonishing his denigrators even in Kikuyu, Ndii regretted the topic, calling them 'imbeciles'.

He added, "Ũrimũ ndũrĩ ndawa (Folly is untreatable). To have so many imbeciles with nothing better to talk on a public platform is a national tragedy."

Ndii, who has accumulated considerable weight over the years, has consistently become a punching bag for online trolls who have repeatedly picked out his weight as their primary attack mode.

Social commentator Francis Gaitho also appears to have jumped onto the Ndii troll party, making a jocular tweet about oversized people after a store purchase.

While sharing a photo of himself while holding onto two shopping bags, Gaitho teased Ndii by suggesting that he should also consider visiting the clothing store which, he says, stocks items specifically made for tall and bulky men.

"There’s this store, not sure if @DavidNdii has checked it out. But they got some really dope shit for people like us..." he wrote.

Many people have, however, expressed their support for the policy expert, telling off the trolls for the malicious body shaming.

Azimio mouthpiece Makau Mutua also threw his weight behind Ndii, terming the haters 'imbeciles'.

"Woe be unto the IDIOTS/IMBECILES who are BODY-SHAMING @DavidNdii," he tweeted.

Also showing support was popular doctor Ahmed Kalebi who said, "Being overweight is an elastic challenge which has many possible contributory factors that can be addressed or managed. There should be no shame in being alive to one’s weight challenges. No one should allow negativity from others on account of weight. Well in @DavidNdii!"

Despite the calls for decency, other people still dragged the economist, reminding him to take his health seriously.

"No @DavidNdii to be overweight signals lack of personal responsibility or a chronic health condition. If it's the latter, resign & go focus on ur health. If it's the former, then it has consequences to the public. Kama umejishinda ni nini ya raia utaweza?" said one X user.
