DCI issues alert on five 'armed and dangerous' terror suspects - PHOTOS

The
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued out an alert on five
terror suspects believed to have been behind previous terror attacks that occurred
in the country.
According to
the DCI, four of the suspects namely; Ramadhan Hamisi Kufungwa, Issa Abdalla,
Ahmed Omar Said and Maalim Yussuf Hassan have carried out various attacks in
Lamu County while the final suspect, Maalim Abbas alias Abbas Guyo, was
responsible for planning the 2014 attack on Garissa University that left 147
people dead.
"Ramadhan
Hamisi Kufungwa commands Al Shabaab fighters and coordinates attacks from
Somalia targeting innocent Kenyans. He is the link person to Kassim Musa
Mwarusi, a fugitive responsible for executing attacks in Boni and movement of
recruits to join Al Shaabab and other terror groups from Kenya," said the
DCI in a statement.
"The
second suspect Issa Abdalla Ahmed alias Issa Kauni, URWA/ORWA, Jafar from
Malindi in Kilifi County, joined Al Shabaab and traveled to Somalia in 2014. He
has been involved in several previous attacks in the country and has risen
through the ranks to become a member of the suicide brigade. He is currently
involved in planning attacks against targets within the country."
Malindi
native Ahmed Omar Said, the DCI added, has been involved in a number of attacks
within Boni Forest after initially joining the Al-Shabaab network in 2016.
He is attached
to Al-Shabaab's Jaysh Ayman Brigade, an elite branch of the terror outfit
formed specifically to carry out attacks in Kenya.
"The
fourth suspect Maalim Yussuf Hassan Abdullahi alias Isaack Hassan Abdullahi,
Maalim Yussuf Abdullahi Ibrahim is wanted for the killing of three (3) teachers
at QARSA in 2018 and the assassination of a local assistant chief in Gumurey,
Wajir County in December 2020," said the DCI.
The
DCI similarly urged members of the public with any information that may
lead to the arrest of five terror suspects affiliated with Al-Shabaab to
present themselves to police.
"Should you have any information regarding the whereabouts
of the above mentioned suspects whose activities pose a serious security threat
to innocent Kenyans, do not hesitate to reach us through our anonymous hotline
number or the police hotline number," said the DCI.
