DCI probing Tuju’s disappearance, seeks unrestricted access to his home

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says it has launched investigations into the reported disappearance of Tuju, following a missing person report lodged by his family at Karen Police Station on Sunday, March 22. 

According to the family, Tuju went missing on Saturday, alongside his driver, as they were on their way to a radio interview. His vehicle is reported to have been abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen and was found with its hazard lights on. 

“A security guard from a nearby institution alerted authorities, prompting a swift response by officers from Karen Police Station,” the DCI reports.

The DCI says a probe into the mysterious disappearance has begun, urging the family to cooperate with relevant authorities. 

According to investigators, Tuju’s family on Sunday denied them access to the former minister’s home along Mwitu Drive in Karen. 

“We urge full cooperation from all parties, including unrestricted access to relevant locations and prompt provision of information, for a swift and thorough resolution,” said DCI in a statement on Sunday evening. 

Investigators have also urged members of the public with relevant information to report it or share it confidentially through DCI hotlines.

Detectives seek information from people who may have seen him, his vehicle, or any suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane or greater Karen area before, on or after March 21, 2026. 

At the time of the said disappearance, the former minister was facing a court battle over the ownership of Dari Business Park in Karen. 

The dispute involves an alleged failure to repay a Ksh.1.9 billion loan borrowed from the East African Development Bank (EADB) in 2015. The initial borrowed amount was USD 9,197,084 (Ksh. 1.2 billion), and the remainder accrued interest.

The properties include Entim Sidai Wellness Sanctuary of LR No.11320/3, Off Tree Lane, Karen, and Tamarind Karen and Dari Business Park, off Ngong, Karen of LR No. 1055/165.

On March 19, Tuju wrote to Inspector General Douglas Kanja protesting what he describes as an unlawful police occupation of Dari Business Park.

In a letter, Tuju claimed that more than 100 police officers raided the premises in the early hours of March 13 without a court order and have remained stationed there for nearly a week.
