A simmering deal between Kenya and Germany to provide 250,000 job opportunities is set to be sealed before June 2024, President William Ruto has announced.

This, he intimated during a cabinet retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru County on Monday saying that the European nation has agreed to open doors to 250,000 professional, skilled and semi-skilled Kenyans in an effort to meet Germany's huge labour requirements.

He said that with the help of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Roseline Njogu, the deal will be inked by the end of the next four months.

"Roseline just came back from Germany. We are almost completing the agreement with the German government because they have asked us for 250,000 job opportunities and they want us to conclude the agreement before June. The same thing is going on with different countries," said Ruto.

The Head of State further stated that he has held numerous negotiations with other nations to provide job opportunities for Kenyan youths, urging the Kenya Kwanza legislators to aid him sufficiently to achieve his ambitions.

"There are jobs out there, there are young people all over the place. We need to connect them to the opportunities. Any serious leader will listen to what I have said and do something about it," Ruto noted.

Ruto also decried the low numbers of Kenyan nurses being exported to Saudi Arabia, noting that out of the needed 2,500 only 500 have managed to travel.

He urged leaders to be committed to his government's cause and help the Health Ministry access the remaining nurses and others who will be interested once fresh deals are struck.
