Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
(DCI) spent the better part of Thursday tracing the last moments of slain model
Edwin Kiprotich alias Chiloba.
In tow was the main suspect in the murder,
Jackton Odhiambo, who was assisting police in the investigations.
Forensic experts from the homicide department
of the DCI began their assignment at the Noble Breeze Apartments along Iten - Eldoret
road.
The late Chiloba and Odhiambo shared a house
at this apartment building; a house that Chiloba is said to have been murdered at
before his body was stashed in a metal box and later dumped kilometres away.
Armed with cameras and other equipment which
they used to dust the house, the officers took hours combing the scene and
collecting any forensic material.
They also recorded statements from witnesses
including the apartment’s caretaker.
After almost two hours, the detectives left for
the scene where the body of Chiloba was discovered along Kipkenyo-Kaptinga road
in Kipkaren area on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
The officers processed the scene, taking
notes and any detail that can help in the ongoing investigations.
The officers also spent time in a car that is
currently detained at Langas Police Station that is suspected to have been used
to transport the body from the scene of the murder to Kipkenyo.
Late in the evening, the officers visited the
house of Jackton Odhiambo, the main suspect in the murder case, in Kimumu area
where they recovered some of Chiloba’s belongings.
The detectives are expected to visit a club
where Chiloba and the suspect are said to have partied a day before his murder.
