The Political Parties Tribunal has issued orders staying the Registrar of Political Parties' Gazette Notice issued on November 4, 2022, on the distribution of the Ksh.1.48 billion Political Parties Fund to the qualifying political parties.

This is after the President William Ruto-led UDA Party moved to the tribunal to challenge the gazette notice on grounds that the Registrar of Political Parties failed to disclose to the party the formula it used in distributing the funds.
According to the gazette notice, UDA emerged top with an allocation of Ksh.577,162,898, followed by Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which is set to receive Ksh.308,260,679.
Through lawyer Adrian Kamotho, the UDA Party claims that the registrar of political parties miscalculated the total number of votes garnered by qualifying parties in the General Election held on 9th August 2022, in regard to the election of the President, Members of Parliament, County Governors and Member of County Assemblies.
The UDA party claims that it has been unlawfully deprived of funds in excess of Ksh. 115 Million that its rightfully entitled to, hence jeopardizing its activities and operations.
"Unless this application is urgently heard and allowed as prayed, the  Appellant is legitimately apprehensive that the Respondent will proceed to release the miscalculated funds to the detriment of the Appellant," reads court papers.
