Doctors union urges Governors to improve funding on healthcare, implement CBAs
The Kenya Medical
Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has urged county governments
to improve service delivery through adequate funding and better governance.
Taking to its official social media channels, the medics urged Governors
to improve healthcare provision by hiring and training doctors.
KMPDU further called on Governors to implement Collective Bargaining
Agreements and opt for structured engagements with its members.
"When you fail to pay salaries & buy drugs all the while pointing
fingers at doctors it is inhuman. Instead, implement the CBA and have
structured engagement," the doctors said.
At the same time, KMPDU urged the county bosses to cease intimidating workers
but instead focus on ensuring a better working environment.
"Threats to health workers are outdated. Equip and facilitate service delivery with adequate funding. Pay doctors and healthcare workers on time. When your terms come to an end remember you may wish you did better. Helicopters, airstrips and roads will not treat you," KMPDU said.
