The
Spouse of the deputy president, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has revealed that her
passion for the fight against alcoholism is from the loss of her brother and
brother-in-law to alcoholism.
Speaking
to students of the University of Embu in Embu County, Pastor Dorcas shared the
pain of her family losing one of the brothers.
“Don’t
think I do all these things (fighting against drugs and alcoholism) without
background or something that has happened to my family. We have lost brothers
to alcohol, my own brother and my brother-in-law. One of those we buried was an
engineer, another one was a medical doctor in South Africa,” Pastor Dorcas told
the university students.
“When
I speak, I speak as one who has knowledge of what alcoholism can do. Please
stay sober.”
One
of the beneficiaries of her programs, Godffrey Mwago, a recovering addict, gave
the students his journey to alcoholism having lost two jobs in the past due to
alcoholism.
Mwago
was taken for rehabilitation in Timau, Meru County last year.
Pastor
Dorcas is on a three-day tour of Embu County where her office will be screening
some of the addicts for rehabilitation today at Embu Stadium.
