Kindiki, who has been on a two-day tour of Ukambani, met women’s groups in Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni, promoting the bottom-up economic agenda and stressing the government’s focus on development rather than premature politics.
He urged young people to reject leaders driven by personal ambition. The president's allies accused Gachagua of misleading Kalonzo Musyoka, dismissing him as a false political strategist and claiming the Wiper leader needs a serious platform to run for office.
"When President William Ruto was elected, our economy had declined, it was in a bad state because for nearly two years, 2020–2021, no work continued in Kenya or worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic," Kindiki noted.
"Businesses were shut down, matatus were parked, there was no cleanliness, no hotels opened, and we couldn’t go to work. It was the corona pandemic that caused the economic damage."
On his part, Ichung’wa said the former deputy president has been unsettled by MPs’ unity efforts to support the vulnerable. He challenged him to come up with a clear political direction instead of criticizing others.
"William Ruto, you said it's two terms, work without brakes. Let's see Machakos, work without brakes from William Ruto, let me see the people of two terms in Machakos," Ichung'wa pointed out.
