Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has now withdrawn his earlier application that had sought to have the Ksh.80 million corruption case against former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal withdrawn.

Senior Assistant Director of Public prosecutions Alexander Muteti told the Anti-corruption court on Friday that after consultation, the DPP wishes to withdraw the earlier application and will proceed with prosecution of the matter in line with the dates that had been set earlier.

Anti-Corruption Magistrate Thomas Nzioki allowed the application by DPP, hence the case will proceed for hearing.

The former Governor, who is one of the candidates shortlisted for the principal secretary jobs, is accused of fraudulently receiving Ksh.80,715,000 county funds Oryx Service Station, a company allegedly registered under his name.

The u-turn made by the DPP comes on the backdrop of public uproar sparked by the application he had made seeking to drop charges against Lenolkulal.

With the case now back to life, Lenolkulal could have a difficult time once he is put to task on his integrity during interviews for the Principal Secretary position.
