Duale reveals he is worth Ksh.851M as he appears for CS vetting

Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale has revealed that he is worth Ksh.851 million.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Committee of Appointments on Monday, the legislator said that he has amassed the wealth from his assets and annual income.

"I am worth Ksh.851 million including the assets I own and the camels and sheep I own. I even had to go and value my 231 camels somewhere in Kitui county,' said Duale.

He further intimated to the committee chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula that his current stream of income is about Ksh.10 million annually.

"My current source of income annually in terms of rentals and others is about Ksh.10 million," he noted.

Duale is the third member of President William Ruto's 22-cabinet-nominee list to appear before the panel.

Attorney General nominee Justin Muturi had earlier appeared who revealed that he has an estimated worth of Ksh.700 million.

Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi, who was the first one to take the hot seat, said that he is worth Ksh.4 billion.

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS nominee Alfred Mutua will then appear next before the panel after at 2.30 pm.

CS nominee for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Wahome will close the day's exercise after her vetting slated for 3.30 pm.

The exercise, according to a communiqué by the Clerk of the National Assembly Sarah Kioko, with run through to Saturday, October 22, with the exception of Thursday, October 20, when the country will observe Mashujaa Day.
