EACC Postpones Oswago, Oyombra Grilling Indefinitely
The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) has once again postponed the grilling of ‘Chicken Scandal' suspects.
The former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO James Oswago and Trevy Oyombra were expected to be quized on Wednesday morning at the EACC head office in Integrity Center but the commission has postponed the grilling indefinitely.
Trevy Oyombra, who is a local agent of UK printing firm Smith & Ouzman, is accused of disbursing Sh50 million to top electoral commission officials of the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) as bribes for printing tenders.
IEBC Chair Issack Hassan, former Kenya National Examinations Council CEO Paul Wasanga and Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir were last week grilled by EACC officials over the scandal.
LONG TIME
On Tuesday, EACC Chairperson Mumo Matemu said that the probe into the chicken scandal will take a long time because it involves various agencies and collaborative evidence from other countries.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of a systems review into the service delivery systems, policies, procedures and practices of selected ports of entry, Matemu said his team was focusing on procurement and tendering processes to establish whether or not they were in line with legal provisions in the country.
