Embu County to establish own ‘KRA’

The County Government of Embu is set to launch the County Revenue Authority, an equivalent of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in a move geared at optimizing consolidation of the revenue generated within the county.

Addressing the County Assembly on Wednesday, the County Executive Committee member for finance, John Njagi, said he will table a Bill in the assembly for adoption to enable create the revenue authority.

According to Njagi, the Bill will enable the county collect internal revenue that is generated within the county in form of land rates and other forms of revenue payable to the county government.

Njagi called upon the Members of the County Assembly and stakeholders to support the initiative that will see the authority eradicate the perennial challenges of raising internal revenue within the county.

The move comes barely after a revelation by the Commission Revenue Allocation that counties have been receiving fiscal management funds to establish ways to automate their revenue collection.
