Embu: Ex-convict hacks wife to death after she refused to reconcile with him

A man only recently released from prison has allegedly hacked to death his 40-year-old wife at Kibugua village in Ngadori, Embu County, after she reportedly refused to reconcile with him.

Confirming the Friday incident, Embu North OCPD Godfrey Kere said the deceased had been identified as Felister Wangari Njeru and her embattled husband as Kinyua Njoka.

According to the OCPD, the man visited the woman at her rented house in an effort to seek reconciliation following an earlier split but that was not to be as they ended up fighting.

It is then that the man is suspected to have killed her before fleeing; a manhunt has since been launched for him.

The deceased’s daughter, Madrin Wangari, told Citizen Digital, that she found her mother unconscious on the floor and raised alarm.

The woman was rushed to the Embu Level Five Hospital by neighbours but was pronounced dead on arrival from the injuries she had been inflicted.

Madrin further said that their father has been in jail and that they had no idea how or when he was released, further calling on police to expedite investigations.
