In a stern message to landowners allegedly encroaching on government land within Runyenjes market, Governor Cecily Mbarire issued a strict warning during a public participation forum held on Wednesday evening at the Runyenjes Social Hall.

The governor emphasized the need to protect County government-owned parcels and spoke about her efforts to secure funding for the construction of a modern sewerage system in Runyenjes through the Ministry of Water.

Governor Mbarire highlighted the urgency of replacing outdated pit latrines in the fast-growing market, pointing out that the county already possesses land in the Kigaa area meant for the construction of the sewer.

She further declared her government's readiness to repossess county-owned land so as to facilitate the development of affordable housing within the market.

Mbarire urged individuals in possession of government land within the market to prepare to vacate, emphasizing that there would be no negotiations.

She cited enough evidence confirming the land's government ownership, regardless of who may have sold it to them.

In addition to these announcements, the governor unveiled her plans to upgrade Runyenjes stadium to higher standards, ensuring that it would second Embu Stadium in terms of facilities and amenities.

Governor Mbarire's firm stance on protecting government land received support from Kagaari North Ward Member of County Assembly MCA, Hon. Johnson Muchangi Mwariama, who also serves as the chair of the County Assembly of Embu Budget Committee.

Mwariama echoed the call for individuals in possession of government land to prepare for eviction.

He stressed that it was imperative for the government to regain control of the land to support various development projects, warning that failure to do so would hinder the county government's ability to implement crucial initiatives.

Mwariama affirmed the County Assembly's commitment to supporting the governor in realizing her vision for the people of Embu.
