Embu Security Committee Bans Sale Of Molasses

This follows the deaths of dozens of people in the area from illicit brew in the area

The security committee took the decision because the two products are major ingredients used in the brewing of the deadly illicit brew

Embu-West sub-County Commissioner Erastus Mbui says the ban takes immediate effect.

Mbui added that those found selling molasses and yeast will face the full force of the law.

He added that a crackdown will be carried out to arrest anyone found selling or using the two items.

This comes after more than 80 people died in 5 counties in the last three days.

More than 150 others are still hospitalized after the consumption of the illicit brew.
