Controversial comedian Eric Omondi has defiantly stated that despite being arrested and charged for unlawfully assembling outside Parliament on Tuesday, he will now take his protests decrying the country's state of economy to State House.

Speaking to the press outside the Milimani Law Courts after being released on a Ksh.10,000 cash bail on Wednesday, Omondi urged Kenyans to accompany him to State House even if there is no guarantee that they will be granted an audience with President William Ruto, whom he says is seemingly not privy to the hardships that Kenyans are currently facing.

"Tulikosa Speaker Moses Wetangula when we went to Parliament and chances are tunaeza enda State House na tukose President but tutarudi tu," he said.

“If you are a Kenyan and are unemployed but you have a  CV carry it with you. If you have not paid your rent, get an official letter from the landlord and come as well.  If you are a parent na haujalipa fees go to your child's head teacher and get a stamped letter. We are going to take these things to State House."

Omondi added that he is willing to put his life on the line if it means that the plight of Kenyans will take centre stage in the affairs of the country owing to his planned protests.

"This is a fight worth fighting for. If need be it is a fight worth dying for, if that is what it will take. If my life is the reason the voice of the voiceless will be heard then so be it," said the self-proclaimed President of Comedy Africa.

While noting that his protests are not politically motivated, Omondi challenged President Ruto and his administration to take a 50 per cent pay cut for the next three months and set aside the funds collected to address the country's economic deficits.

"I'm requesting the political class from the President down to the MCA to take a 50 per cent pay cut for the next three months; tushikane kama Wakenya, hii pesa tuweke pamoja alafu tukae chini tujue tutapeleka wapi," said the jokester.

"This is not political, this is a request that will very soon turn into a revolution. There is no one behind me apart from my legal advisor and my brother who has come to bail me out."
