Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Muthoni Passaris has defended her seat for in a hotly contested race.

Contesting under an ODM ticket, Passaris garnered 698,929 votes followed 

Her main rival, UDA's candidate Millicient Omanga, came in second with a total of 586,246 votes.

Speaking after receiving her receiving her clearance certificate from the Nairobi County Returning Officer, Passaris vowed to devotedly serve the people of Nairobi, thanking her supporters for electing her into the County MP seat.

She also lauded Kenyans for keeping calm during the polls and urged them to remain steadfast even after the presidential winner is announced.

"I want to thank everyone in my Azimio team and all the voters in Nairobi. We will work tirelessly to serve all of you. When we get into office we will only care on delivering the promises we made and we are guided by the manifesto of the Azimio family," she said. 

"We are grateful to all of you for maintaining the peace during the election period and we pray that the same peace will be maintained even after the president is announced."

Other candidates who lost in the race are Monica Gitau with 17,811 votes, Delvin Moraa (7,832), Mary Musuki (5,383)Brenda Kangai (7,018)
