Ethiopian immigrants refuse to eat, demand repatriation
27 Ethiopian nationals have staged hunger strike at Embu Police Station for what they term as illegal detention.
The 27, who were to be repatriated back to Ethiopia, were taken to the police station after completing their jail terms at the Embu GK Prison.
The aliens, who have been in custody for 27 days since the completion of their terms, have refused to eat saying they can only do so once repatriated.
The aliens were serving jail terms after being found in the country without the valid documentation.
On Wednesday, May 18th, the police department is said to have gone to court for interpretation of the order from Senior Magistrate Vincent Nyakundi who had issued the same.
The order stated that upon the completion of the jail term, the 27 immigrants be repatriated back to Ethiopia by the Immigration Department.
