A warrant of arrest has been issued against former Java CEO Derrick Cornelius Van Houten after he failed to appear in court for his criminal case.

Van Houten is accused of allegedly obtaining Ksh. 7,911,000 by false pretence from businessman Awil Abdirahman Adulle, with the promise of helping him construct a Java Hotel in Narok between 2021 and 2022.

This development comes days after the High Court ruled in favor of Adulle, ordering Van Houten and KISS Cosmetics to pay over Ksh. 9.4 million for funds spent on renovations, equipment, and other related expenses tied to the project.

According to court documents, Adulle had made multiple payments to Van Houten totaling over Ksh. 6.8 million for construction and renovation, and an additional Ksh. 2.6 million to KISS Cosmetics for coffee supplies, all of which were never delivered or refunded.
