Ex-Makueni accountant to pay Ksh. 16M fine in corruption case

A former Makueni District accountant has been fined Ksh. 16.7 million for using his office to fraudulently obtain money.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has directed that Wycliffe Mitema pay the fine for illegally advancing himself Ksh. 3.8 million.

If he defaults, he faces five years in prison, the ODPP added in a statement on Twitter.

The accountant is said to have committed the offence between October 2008 and June 2009.
