Ex-Mungiki leader Maina Njenga's supporters teargassed at DCI HQ
Police on Thursday mid-morning lobed teargas canisters at hundreds of
people who had shown up at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
headquarters in Nairobi in support of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga.
The
former leader of the outlawed organised criminal group was Wednesday ordered to
present himself at the DCI headquarters Thursday morning for questioning after recording
a statement at DCI Nakuru.
He is being probed in relation to the recovery of two firearms and more than 90 rolls of bhang found at a home linked to him in Ngomongo, Bahati.
NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua and her Roots Party counterpart George Wajackoyah are among the leaders who earlier turned up at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Thursday to accompany Njenga for grilling.
