Ex-Raila aide Jakakimba lands appointment as Gov't makes university leadership changes

In an official Gazette notice dated July 25, Education CS Migos Ogamba appointed Silas Jakakimba, a former aide to Raila Odinga, to the Kirinyaga University Council.
The lawyer will be joined by Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy, Ursula Sabina Oyatsi and Margaret Kathambi Gitonga as one of the university council's new members.
The CS also appointed Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha as the Non-Executive Chairperson to the University of Nairobi (UoN) Council.
Others in the council include Jonathan Ltipalei Lodompui, Mary Amuyunzu, Ambassador John Kakonge and Samuel Njuguna Kimani.
The appointments in the council mark a pivotal time when the University has been undergoing challenges in its leadership.
Further, Ogamba appointed Mercy Ringa Njagi as a member of the Moi University Council.
In Kenyatta University, the CS picked Joash Mokamba Keraita, Retired Major General Bashir Yusuf, Alice Waruguru Muita and Isaac Opuya Litali to be Council members.
The University of Eldoret saw the reappointment of Peter Onchari Kereri and the appointment of Evelyne Timpiyan Legis, Razoah Vitisia, to be members of the Council.
In addition, CS Ogamba re-appointed Cyrus Gituai to chair the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
He also announced additional appointments across several universities, including Laikipia, Karatina, Garissa, Egerton, Kisii, Rongo, the Technical University of Kenya, South Eastern Kenya University, Taita Taveta University, and Murang'a University.
University colleges such as Bomet University College, Mama Ngina University College, and Nyandarua University College, among others, also experienced leadership changes.
