Ex-Youth PS Lilian Omollo sets her eyes on Embu Senator's seat
Former Youth Principal Secretary (PS) Lilian
Omollo has declared her interest to vie for the Embu County Senator’s seat at
the forthcoming August general elections.
Omollo, speaking on Tuesday at her rural home
in Rukira village, did not however disclose the party ticket she intends to use
to vie for the position.
The former PS said she is currently
consulting her supporters before making a final announcement on the same in a
week’s time.
She now joins Alexander Mundigi, Bosco
Kiura, Pithon Muchoki, former Kamukunji MP Norman Nyaga, Embu Deputy Governor
David Kariuki, University of Embu lecturer Fridah Karani and former Mungania
tea factory director Samuel Mwafrika who have all expressed interest in the
position.
While defending her candidature, Omollo
underscored that she will inject to the county fresh energy and progressive leadership
acquired from her over two decades’ experience.
“I have a lot of experience, knowledge on
issues of public service and financial management and I do not think there is
any aspirant in Embu who fits that bill,” she said.
“I think it’s time I use my head to help my
people by ensuring the county gets its rightful share of funds from the
national government.”
The former PS has been out of the public
limelight since 2018 when she was implicated in a mega corruption case at the
National Youth Service (NYS).
She has since opted for a low-key life as she
attempts to prove her innocence over the charges leveled against her and 34
other individuals.
