EXCLUSIVE: Women detained at KNH for failing to clear medical bills

Imagine being detained in a hospital against your will? Well, this is the story of more than 20 women with birth related complications who are being held at Kenya’s largest referral hospital for failing to clear medical bills.

Some have been detained at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for close to a year and the hospital floors have become their refuge.

They are being held here against their wish; and the reason, they are unable to pay their hospital bills.

They came in to seek healing from their varied illnesses and now they lie hopeless, waiting for just one thing; freedom from the hospital.
