Public Health officials have confiscated over 100 crates of expired soft drinks and arrested eight sales persons in Kisii.
The drinks from a leading manufacturer were seized at Daraja Mbili open air market and the five pickups ferrying them impounded.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kisii public health officer Sylvia Kerubo said that officials went on a random inspection following a tip off that the drinks were being sold at half price, only to discover that the said batch was expired.
Led by Kisii town county government administrator, Wesley Saisi, the officials have now intensified inspection of soda depots and wholesale shops in the area in a bid to rid off expired and substandard goods.
Mr. Saisi has further issued a stern warning to traders dealing in such goods saying if found, they will be prosecuted.
