Family of four buried alive in Murang’a landslide

Four people are reported to have died after they were buried alive in a landslide in Kiharu, Murang’a County following heavy rains.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kahuro Deputy County Commissioner David Kandie said the four are members of the same family.

Police have since managed to retrieve the bodies of the victims.

And in Gitugi, several people and livestock are feared dead after yet another landslide.

The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident on Saturday morning.

“Reports of landslides in Kahatia and Gitugi villages in Muranga. #RedCross response team en route to the scene,” the humanitarian agency said on Twitter.
