Father seeks answers to son’s death in Lake Nakuru Flamingo Lodge swimming pool

A father is calling on the police to probe the cause of the death of his 28-year-old son who drowned in a swimming pool at Lake Nakuru Flamingo Lodge in Nakuru East constituency, Nakuru County on Saturday, December 30.

Recounting the events leading to the son’s death, Mr. Warui Nyamu says that neither the hotel’s management nor the police informed him of Ben Warui’s death and only learnt of the incident through a friend.

Nyamu says that his attempts to inquire what transpired from the hotel’s management was in vain as they did not give him the answers he was seeking.

“The postmortem on the body was supposed to be done today at Umash Funeral Home but as a family we asked for it to be done tomorrow because we want to know what happened,” said an emotional Mr. Warui.

He called on security agencies to expedite investigations into the matter and castigated the hotel’s handling of the situation.

When Citizen Digital contacted the hotel’s manager Peter Kinyanjui for comment he termed the incident “an accident like any other” saying that he informed the police as soon as they confirmed that the deceased was no more.

The deceased’s workplace colleague at JOMEC Rehabilitation Centre, Beatrice Njenga, said that she last communicated with him on Saturday  morning after which her calls to him were  unanswered.

She described Kuria as a humble and principled person.
