Former Bungoma East Member of Parliament Mark Barasa was on Wednesday found mysteriously murdered at his home farm in Tongaren, Bungoma County.

99-year-old Barasa was the first Bungoma East MP who served between 1963 and 1969.

According to reports, the body of the deceased was partially burned with acid and had the eyes, tongue, and left hand missing.

The family said they had tirelessly searched for him in all places and even announced in the media with the hope of finding their kin since they thought he had lost his memory and was unable to find his way home.

Barasa was married to four wives and had 27 children.

The family eulogised him as someone who brought critical developments to the area during his tenure as an MP such as Webuye Pan Papers, Lugulu Girls, Chesamisi Boys and Friends School Kamusinga.

The family members are now appealing to the government to speed up investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.

The body was taken to Cherengany Nursing Home mortuary.
