Five accomplished Kenyans on the diaspora have received honorary degrees from the Breakthrough International Bible University at an event held at the Oasis Global United Methodist Mission Church in Dallas, Texas.

The ceremony, overseen by Rev. Prof. Lukas Njenga from Glasgow, Scotland, marked a notable achievement in acknowledging the outstanding individuals for their remarkable contributions across various fields.

Among the distinguished recipients were Dr. Mumbi Baskin, the visionary behind the highly acclaimed Afrika Fusion restaurant in Dallas, known for its culinary excellence.

Dr. Alex Karundu, a prominent figure in the trucking industry and a key player at SeaGate Holdings LLC, was also recognized for his substantial contributions to the transportation sector.

“Even though I've made significant strides in the trucking business, my greatest pride stems from serving humanity. I woke up every day feeling a lot of enthusiasm to the people I serve and back home in Kenya I know hardworking Kenyans are behind the engine of a working nation that I am part of, “ stated Dr. Karundu.

Having come from humble beginnings in Ting'ang'a village in Kiambu County, Dr. Karundu's story is a source of inspiration for young people.

He intends to continue mentoring through the Karundu Foundation. He currently serves as the chair of Successful Lewisville Declaration, the acting chair of the continental US Diaspora of Mount Kenya, founding board member of the East African Chamber of Commerce based in Dallas, and the emeritus chairman of the Kenya Advisory Council of Texas.

Dr. Karen Henry Muigai, a paragon of leadership, and Grace Chege, a devoted advocate for women's empowerment, were also lauded for their influential roles in their respective fields.

Bishop Dr. Warui Hodsim from London received well-deserved recognition for his substantial contributions to the community.

“These exceptional individuals stand as sources of inspiration, exemplifying the profound impact that dedication and excellence can have on society,” remarked Prof. Njenga while conferring them honorary degrees for their achievements.

“Their journeys underscore the power of transformative leadership and innovation in shaping a brighter future for all of us."
