Former Transport and Infrastructure Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti has received a Wiper Party direct nomination ticket to run for the Machakos Governor seat in the August 9th General election.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka handed the nomination certificate to Wavinya Ndeti on Friday at the party's command centre in Karen, Nairobi.

The unanimous decision came after Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau shelved his gubernatorial ambition in support of Wavinya.

In her speech, Wavinya lauded the MP for his decision to back her candidacy saying that they would work together in uniting the region and ensuring the party clinched the county's top seat.

"For a brother to step down for a sister is not a joke. I want to sincerely thank you Hon Makau for stepping down for me. That shows a love that surpasses any other love," Wavinya said.

"This seat is not about Wavinya at all, it is about the party capturing the seat and working for our people."

The former Kathiani MP will now battle it out with former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita (Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU)),  Deputy Governor Francis Maliti (Maendeleo Chap Chap), and former Senator Johnson Muthama (UDA).

At the same time, the party-endorsed Prof Phillip Kaloki for consideration in the Nairobi gubernatorial nominations under the Azimio-One Kenya coalition.

Businessman Richard Ngatia who also graced the event welcomed the move saying that a consensus would be undertaken to ensure the Azimio faction field was the best candidate.
