Former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor George Eshiwani Is Dead

Prof Eshiwani died while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

Eshiwani was a Professor of Mathematics and had extensive experience in University Management having served as the first Principal of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology before joining Kenyatta University as the Vice Chancellor.

He later joined Mt. Kenya University as its first Vice Chancellor.

Prof Eshiwani is remember for being the longest serving Vice Chancellor in the history of Kenya’s university education.

Having spent 41 years in the education sector, Eshiwani was the teacher to powerful leaders in the country including Siaya Senator James Orengo and former MP Joseph Nyaga among others.
