Former Local Gov’t PS Zachary Ogongo Dies

Ogongo was pronounced dead in hospital after collapsing at his Athi-River home this morning.

A family spokesman Dan Onkoba Momanyi says Ogongo was suffering from cancer.

He once served as a Permanent Secretary at the ministries of Local Government, Lands and Health until his retirement in November 2005.

He also served in the Civil Service from the rank of D.O, DC, P.C, through to P.S.

Ogongo unsuccessfully contested for the Nyamira County Gubernatorial seat on an ODM ticket in the 2013 general election but lost

The body has been taken to the Lee Funeral Home.
